To discuss the impact of the Good Distribution Practices (GDP) on transporting pharmaceuticals by air, we recently organized the GDP Practice in Aviation Industry Conference with the Dutch Association of Research Quality Assurance (DARQA) at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. More than 20 Quality Assurance specialists from 18 different pharmaceutical companies were invited. What were the main takeaways? To improve the quality in the supply chain, and thereby ensuring product integrity of the pharmaceutical goods, we need to enhance the partnerships between shippers, forwarders and airlines. To do this, transparency and collaboration is key. Also, decisions on how to implement GDP in the air cargo industry need to be made with a risk managing approach, in which protecting the quality of the transported goods remains the main focus. According to participating customers it was an interesting, successful day. We look forward to planning more co-creation events with you next year.
