General CargoFeb - 26, 2019
As of 01 January, 2019, IATA announced that e-AWB would become the default contract of carriage for all air cargo shipments on enabled trade lanes.

Benefits of e-AWB's:



Air France, KLM Martinair Cargo will implement a paper AWB charge for all 057/074 prefix AWBs as of 24th of June 2019.

A paper AWB charge will not be applied if:
- The EDI multilateral e-AWB Agreement between Air France KLM Martinair Cargo and the forwarder has been signed and activated.
And
- A valid FWB has been received by Air France KLM Martinair Cargo before freight acceptance at origin station.

Charge value:                                                          £3.00 per MAWB
Start date for shipments
originating UK and Ireland:                                       24th of June 2019
As of 26th August 2019:                                          Value of charge will increase to £10 per MAWB

How do I switch to e-AWB? Just follow the Single process.

1. Sign the Multilateral e-AWB agreement (MeA)
It´s simple, it starts by signing the Multilateral e-AWB Agreement (MeA) with IATA on their website.
By signing the agreement, freight forwarders (or shippers) and airlines confirm their intention to use e-AWBs instead of paper AWBs.

2. Activation Notice sent by airline
When the Multilateral e-AWB Agreement (MeA) has been counter-signed by IATA please inform us. We can then verify that the quality of your FWB messaging is sufficient for e-AWB. We will then send you an Activation Notice.

3. Start e-AWB
From the moment you receive the Activation Notice, you can replace all paper AWBs with e-AWB. If a paper AWB is still required at any final destination, we the airline will print one according to IATA rules.
