Global Airfreight International joins Air France KLM Martinair Cargo's SAF Programme

SustainabilityDec - 20, 2024
Air France KLM Martinair Cargo is proud to welcome Global Airfreight International as its first customer in Southeast Asia to join its SAF Programme. The agreement between the two companies was signed last week during a ceremony at the Air France KLM Martinair Cargo office in Singapore. This partnership marks a significant milestone in promoting environmentally awareness in the airfreight industry and highlights the shared commitment of both companies to reducing their CO2 footprint in the logistics sector.

The Air France KLM Martinair Cargo SAF Programme provides a tailored approach based on a company's environmental objectives. Contributions from participating companies are allocated towards the procurement of SAF within the specified agreement period. Produced from non-fossil fuel sources, the SAF selected by Air France-KLM reduces CO2 emissions by at least 65% over its entire life cycle. These fuels can be used today without any modifications to aircraft or flight operations and are gradually replacing traditional fuels. Air France-KLM exclusively selects fuels that are proven to be sustainable and certified by independent bodies such as the RSB or ISCC+ (notably from sources like used oil or agricultural waste). The SAF sourced by Air France-KLM is produced from second-generation biomass with strict sustainability criteria defined by the EU (e.g., no competition with food production, no deforestation).
