If so, you may find it interesting that AFKLMP Cargo recently transported parts of the Very Large Telescope Interferometer.Last month, we transported crates with very valuable content. One of our Boeing 747 freighters departed from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol bound for Santiago de Chile carrying parts of MATISSE.

This instrument combines light beams collected by up to four of the eight telescopes that make up the Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI), using them for spectroscopic and imaging observations. Together, MATISSE and the VLTI have the imaging power of a telescope measuring up to 200 meters in diameter (depending on telescope configuration), which means they are capable of producing stunningly detailed images.

The MATISSE project is a joint initiative involving Germany, France and the Netherlands, working in collaboration with the European Southern Observatory. The VLTI presents a fascinating means to conduct scientific research on a wide array of phenomena, including young pre-main sequence stars and their protoplanetary disks, post-main sequence mass-losing stars, binary objects and their orbits, solar system asteroids, and extragalactic objects, such as active galactic nuclei.

At Air France KLM Martinair Cargo we understand that getting the right part to the right place at the right time is the key to success. Not only for ourselves, but also for our customers. If you need a reliable partner to transport your extraordinary high-value shipments, we´re here for you.
