AWB / e-AWB

The air waybill (AWB) is mandatory when shipping any goods. Customers must present an AWB for verification and to ensure smooth handling of their consignment during transport. Handling codes must be specified so that AFKLMP teams can provide service levels in accordance with the product booked.

Acceptance/e-Acceptance

AFKLMP conducts checks in accordance with the IATA STANDARD ACCEPTANCE CHECKLIST FOR TIME AND TEMPERATURE SENSITIVE HEALTHCARE SHIPMENTS.

Cool rooms (origin, CDG/AMS hubs, destination)

Wherever possible, AFKLMP provides cool rooms of 2-8°C and 15-25°C at network stations, as specified in our Global Capability Tool. While your goods are in transit at our CDG or AMS hubs, procedures ensure that your product is stored as booked, on condition that this is properly specified in the AWB. Please note that we cannot always fully guarantee availability storage space at outstation, due to space restrictions, which means response procedures may be in the event of a shortage of storage capacity. At our CDG hub, dangerous goods cannot be stored loose in the cool room, due to legal restrictions on dangerous goods in warehouses where people work.

Warehouse Handling and Tarmac Time

These are lead times during which your goods are processed, in the warehouse or on the tarmac between the warehouse and the aircraft, at hubs and outstations. During these lead times, consignments are not in temperature-controlled environments and may be exposed to ambient temperatures inside or outside the warehouse.

AFKLMP does its utmost to keep warehouse handling and tarmac time to a minimum and to prevent temperature variations. Customers can check lead times in our Global Capability Tool.

Hold

If there are temperature-sensitive products or dangerous goods on board, a NOTOC is automatically sent to the captain, to ensure that they take whatever action is required. The current AFKLMP fleet offers temperature-controlled storage aboard all long-haul aircraft and full freighters, sometimes offering two different temperature-controlled spaces aboard the same aircraft. This includes the Boeing 777, which makes up the majority of the AFKLMP fleet. Please note that if two different temperature products are booked on the same flight, one will always be offloaded or thermal covered if conditions permit.

Our Delta partner´s holds are set at temperatures between +2°C and +25°C.

Packaging

There are all sorts of packaging options – active, passive, dry ice, gel pack – that ensure stable temperatures for pharmaceutical goods. Customers are free to choose their own packaging, as long as they respect IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and AFKLMP´s own specifications. AFKLMP offers solutions such as active and passive rentals worldwide. All other packaging is bought or rented by customers at their own risk.

Refrigerant

There are various refrigerants available that help maintain temperatures. Please note that these refrigerants must comply with the Temperature Control Regulations (TCR).

SPL: storage of dangerous goods is specified per product booked for both loose and palletised cargo.
CDG: Storage of dangerous goods is specified per product for palletised Cargo. However, loose cargo cannot be stored in a cool room at CDG due to legal restrictions.
