Express Cargo: Express
Amongst other things, freight building 1 houses a dedicated unit for handling the Express product, mail and other loose-loaded, high-yielding products. The flow handles flights to European and intercontinental destinations. This unit offers unique, comprehensive handling capabilities: it operates dedicated acceptance and delivery services, warehouse handling, document handling and ramp transport. Handling operations are supported by IT technology based on barcode scanning for real-time warehousing and track & trace.
Security
Throughout the Schiphol Hub, optimal security is available with a round-the-clock video surveillance system linked to the KLM Cargo Security command post. Screening equipment can be used at Export acceptance. In freight building 1, special sniffer dogs check cargo at random before loading.
High-Tech Facilities
The Schiphol Hub uses modern high-tech solutions such as the Pallet & Container Handling System (PCHS) for the fully automated handling of ready for carriage pallets and containers, from delivery to loading. PCHS offers 1,200 storage positions.
Quality: Cargo iQ
To optimise handling times, the terminal is now process-driven for both departures and arrivals. One of the cornerstones of our operational excellence programme is our ongoing drive to achieve "Delivered as Promised" for your shipment. The best way to ensure that you get what you paid for is by making our processes as transparent as possible. We therefore offer a wide range of track & trace facilities and automated customised messages, updating you on the status of your shipments. We track our performance with Cargo iQ, the industry wide standard, which we also use as our strategic quality system throughout our network and for all our products.
